Forget everything you’ve been told about “breaking your chains.” In this corner of the South Bay and LA underground, we don’t break them—we climb them.
If you’ve spent any time in the LA goth or alternative scene, you know the name Venus Trjegul. She’s a Long Beach local, a high-octane performance artist, and a staple gogo dancer who has spent years turning cold steel into fine art. Now, once a month at Coyote Studios in Los Angeles, she’s inviting the rest of us ragtag misfits to get off the ground and into the links.
The Ritual: What to Expect
This isn’t your average, airy-fairy fitness class. This is a beginner-to-intermediate level deep dive into aerial chains. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or a curious artisan who finds comfort in the uncomfortable, there is a spot for you here.
- The Schedule: Class usually kicks off at 7:00 PM for a solid hour of instruction, followed by a half-hour of “free play” to practice your moves or get that perfect, grit-heavy photo.
- The Demand: Because the scene is hungry for this, if the 7:00 PM slot fills up, Venus often drops a second session from 8:45 PM – 9:45 PM (also with a half-hour of free play).
- The Vibe: The crowd is a beautiful mix of performers, artists, and those looking for an adventure that actually challenges their limits. It’s friendly, it’s supportive, and we focus on getting “comfy” in the chains before Venus leads us through a custom combo.
The Reality Check (Read Before You Climb)
We deal in Radical Representation, and that means being real with you. This is physical, industrial-grade art.
- Bruising is normal. * Dizziness is normal. * Not being able to do every move on day one? Totally normal.
What to Bring:
- Gear: Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. No heels—stick to flat shoes or go barefoot as instructed.
- Fuel: Bring plenty of water.
- The Secret Weapon: Pack some ginger chews. The spinning is real, and these are a lifesaver for the nausea.
- Arrival: There is ample parking at Coyote Studios, so you don’t have to stress the LA street-parking nightmare before you hit the air.
Investment & Private Sessions
Group classes are typically $55. If you find yourself addicted to the metal (and you probably will), Venus also offers one-on-one private sessions at her personal studio in Long Beach. It’s the perfect way to fast-track your skills or prep for your own performance.
Why Do It?
You join this class for the challenge. You join for the adventure. You join because you want to connect with other artists who aren’t afraid of a little cold steel and a few bruises. But mostly, you join because you want to see exactly what you’re capable of when you stop running from the chains and start owning them.
